Another successful season for the Hillsdale College men's and women's track and field teams was recognized on Tuesday afternoon by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Eleven Chargers athletes earned All-G-MAC honors as the conference announced its annual outdoor track and field awards. All individual and relay champions at the 2024 G-MAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Hillsdale on May 1-3 received first-team honors from the G-MAC, while all runners-up received second-team honors. Hillsdale's women finished third at the G-MAC Championships as a team, while the men placed fourth.
Six Chargers earned first team honors, including both of the top spots for each gender in the high jump and javelin. G-MAC champions Reagan Dahlquist, who tied for the women's high jump title, and Cass Dobrowolski, who won the men's title and earned a qualifying berth to the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships, both earned first team honors. In the javelin, both Hillsdale athletes who set new Chargers and G-MAC records in the event -- senior Eden Little, who was a 2024 All-American in the event, and freshman Thomas Flud -- also were recognized with first team honors.
Hillsdale also got championship performances from senior Shura Ermakov in the 100 hurdles and Richie Johnston in the 3,000m steeplechase, both earning them first team All-G-MAC honors as well. Both athletes would go on to compete at the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships later in May.
Five Hillsdale athletes received second team honors for runner-up finishes at the G-MAC Championships. Senior Liz Wamsley, who earned All-American honors in multiple events at the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships, earned second-team honors in the 1,500m run, as did national meet qualifier Tara Townsend in the pole vault. Also earning second team honors for the Chargers are school record holders Emily Gerdin in the triple jump and Neva Polo in the heptathlon, as well as senior Louisa Klaserner in the 100 hurdles.
