Twelve Chargers earn USTFCCCA Outdoor Track and Field All-Region honors

2023 USTFCCCA NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field All-Region teams

Another successful outdoor season for the Hillsdale College men's and women's track and field teams in the 2023 season has led to another banner haul from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this spring.

Twelve Hillsdale College track and field athletes -- two men and 10 women -- received All-Region honors from the USTFCCCA, continuing a long string of seasons where at least one Hillsdale College athlete received the honor.

USTFCCCA All-Region honors go to the individuals with the top five times or marks in each event in each of the eight NCAA Division II regions across the country, as well as the members of each top-three ranked relay teams.

On the women's side, another excellent 4x400m relay for the Chargers women headlined the honorees, with Hillsdale's team of Shura Ermakov, Dakota Stamm, Reese Dragovich and Francesca Federici all receiving All-Region recognition. It's the third-straight All-Region honor outdoors for both Stamm and Ermakov, and Ermakov also added individual recognition for her performance in the 400m hurdles as well. For both Federici and Dragovich, it's their first time earning All-Region honors outdoors. Both Hillsdale's 4x400m relay and Ermakov in the 400m hurdles will compete at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships this Thursday through Saturday in Pueblo, Colorado as well.

They'll be joined in Pueblo by several additional All-Region honorees as well. Junior Eden Little will make her first trip to the DII Outdoor Championships this week after receiving her third consecutive All-Region honor in the javelin from the USTFCCCA, while Margaret Scheske (3,000m steeplechase) and Liz Wamsley (10,000m run) are both repeat All-Region honorees and repeat Outdoor Championships qualifiers as well.

Sophomore Averi Parker also will be headed to Pueblo in both the shot put and hammer throw after recieving All-Region honors in both events, while Reagan Dahlquist also received All-Region honors and earned a national meet bid in the high jump for the Chargers as well. Sophomore Neva Polo also earned All-Region honors for Hillsdale for the first time in her outdoor career, in the heptathlon.

On the men's side, sophomore Richie Johnston added to his qualifying mark to the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in the 3,000m steeplechase with the first All-Region honors of his career in the event, while teammate Sean Fagan earned All-Region honors for the second straight season in the 400m hurdles for the Chargers.
