Heptathletes Polo, Nimtz place highly for Chargers at All-Ohio Multis

After strong performances in the pentathlon indoors, Hillsdale College women's track and field athletes Neva Polo and Allison Nimtz put together solid showings in their first heptathlon of the 2023 outdoor season at the All-Ohio Multis in New Concord, Ohio on Thursday and Friday.

Polo earned a runner-up finish and Nimtz took third for the Chargers in the event, hosted by Muskingum University.

A sophomore, Polo beat her personal best in the heptathlon by three points thanks to a new personal best and victory in the javelin, with a throw of 30.88 meters. Polo also racked up four second-place finishes in the seven-part event, in the 100 hurdles (16.72), shot put (10.02 meters), long jump (5.06 meters) and 800m run (2:33.96).

Her teammate, Nimtz, a junior, took third in her first ever heptathlon outdoors, with a score of 3,754 points. Nimtz used a runner-up finish in the 200m dash (27.20) and three third-place finishes, in the shot put (9.98 meters), long jump (4.95 meters) and 800m run (2:34.77) to bring home a top three finish.

The Chargers next compete as a full team on April 15 and 16, as Hillsdale's women's team sends athletes to both the Tiffin Extravaganza in Tiffin, Ohio and the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
