Hillsdale’s Shura Ermakov named G-MAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week (March 29-April 5)

In her first season with the Hillsdale College women's track and field team, Shura Ermakov has already been named the G-MAC's Indoor Freshman of the Year and earned All-American honors.

If her early performances outdoor are any indication, there's plenty more accolades on the way for the freshman from Berea, Ohio this spring.

Ermakov brought in another one this Wednesday, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced, earning G-MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors for her performance at the Hilltopper Relays this past weekend.

The freshman took second with one of the best-ever races in the 400 meter hurdles in G-MAC history at the Hilltopper Relays. Ermakov finished in 1:01.87, the fourth-fastest time in the history of the G-MAC, and just 0.05 seconds off of a Division II provisional qualifying mark in the event.

Ermakov also made her mark as a leg on the Chargers' 4x400 meter relay, along with Dakota Stamm, Zalonya Eby and Kajsa Johansson, that won at the Hilltopper Relay in 3:47.08, shattering the G-MAC outdoor record in the event by over three seconds.

It's currently the second fastest time in the nation in the event, and one of four provisional qualifiers in Division II to date.

Ermakov earned her first All-American honor less than a month ago in the 4x400 relay at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Meet, and looks well-positioned to repeat that honor in the outdoor campaign – while also potentially reaching the national meet as an individual as well.

The Hillsdale College women next host their first home meet of the outdoor season on Saturday.
