Several members of the Hillsdale College women's track team had good days in in their home opener last weekend. One in particular was recognized for her efforts Tuesday morning.
Sophomore Nikita Maines, one of the top throwers in the conference, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The award was chosen and announced by the conference office.
Maines placed second in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional mark of 17.32 meters. That stands as the top mark in that event in the G-MAC this season.
She was third in the shot put last weekend with a toss of 13.56 meters, also an NCAA provo mark. She currently ranks third in the G-MAC in the conference's indoor performance list to this point in the schedule.
