The Hillsdale College men's and women's track teams are hoping to peak at the right time, in time for this weekend's 2017 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The University of Findlay is this year's event host, with all the action getting started Saturday and continuing into Sunday.

The Charger men have improved their finish at indoor GLIACs in each of the past three years, going from sixth to fifth to third last year.

This year's Hillsdale men are strong in the sprint events, starting with 60 meter specialists Sergio San Jose Lorza and Todd Frickey. Veterans Colby Clark and Lane White have already proven their mettle against some of the NCAA's best, while Tanner Schwannecke has worked to be included in this group.

Caleb Gatchell was an All-American during cross country season and strengthens the team's middle distance runners. Senior Ty Etchemendy figures to score points in both the triple jump along with relay events.

Like the men, the Charger women have improved upon their GLIAC indoor finish in each of the past three years, progressing from fourth to third to second. In 2013 the team scored 36 points at the conference indoor meet. Last year Hillsdale scored 101.5.

Distance runners Molly Oren and Hannah McIntyre are no strangers to big meets, as both have been named All-American many times over between track and cross country. Senior Alexandra Whitford has enjoyed her best season in the pole vault, while throwers Dana Newell and Rachael Tolsma also rank among the GLIAC's best in both the weight throw and shot put.
