Charger women's tennis team tops Cedarville 4-0 for road win

Bouncing back from the first two conference losses since joining the G-MAC in 2017 last weekend, the Hillsdale College women's tennis team earned a 4-0 victory over host Cedarville on Thursday.

The Chargers captured the momentum early on in the match by sweeping all three doubles matches and winning the doubles point. Hannah Cimpeanu and Sarah Hackman won a hard-fought match at No. 1 singles, beating the team from Cedarville in a 6-4 tiebreak to take the match, 7-6. Hillsdale's No. 2 doubles team of Canela Luna and Sophia Spinazze and their No. 3 doubles team of Ellie Chawner and Helana Formentin each picked up 6-2 victories as well.

In the singles portion, Cimpeanu earned an impressive 6-4, 6-1 win over Cedarville's Abby Totten at No. 1 singles to lead the way for the Chargers. Spinazze picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets' Liana English at No. 3 singles, and Chawner beat Cedarville's Faith Triplett 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles as well.

Although their matches went unfinished as the victory was already clinched, Hackman and Formentin were both ahead at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

Hillsdale improves to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Chargers wrap up the regular season at home on Sunday with their Senior Day match against Walsh, looking to improve their seeding in the upcoming G-MAC Tournament with a victory.
