The Hillsdale College women's swimming and diving team is chasing something unprecedented this week, but it won't come easily.

The Chargers have won three straight G-MAC/MEC Championship crowns over the past three seasons, and return to the C.T. Branin Natatorium today for a four-day competition looking to make it four conference championships in a row.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference and its four teams that sponsor women's swimming compete for a shared championship with the six teams that offer women's swimming in the Mountain East Conference, making for an 10-team field at this weekend's meet.

Hillsdale enters the meet a strong contender, but will face a stiff challenge from a reloaded Findlay team that brings 34 swimmers to the event, including several top competitors.

Despite the increased competition, the Chargers are well positioned to defend their title, with a strong mix of excellent distance swimmers, top-notch relays and potential big point-scorers in virtually every event outside of the two diving events.

Nine of Hillsdale's 11 All-G-MAC athletes from its 2021-22 title return, led by defending G-MAC Women's Swimmer of the Year and 2022 Freshman of the Year Elise Mason, who will be the top seed in multiple events and look to cement her spot in the NCAA DII National Championships with a strong showing this weekend.

The Chargers have several other national-level competitors, including sophomore Megan Clifford, who won multiple conference titles last season and has a B-cut time in the 200 butterfly, and senior Marie Taylor, a three-time first-team All-G-MAC sprinter who has B-cuts in the 50 and 100 freestyle as well.

Also returning are veteran competitors Leah Tunney, the 2020-21 G-MAC Co-Women's Swimmer of the Year, and Caroline Holmes, a two-time first-team All-G-MAC competitor, as well as three impressive sophomores -- Lily Golladay, Joanna Burnham and Emmalyse Dickhudt, all of whom should play big roles in Hillsdale's title push this season.

Tickets are available to purchase for all interested spectators at the links above, with a $75 all-session pass available, or $10 passes for each morning and $15 passes for each evening session across the four days.

All four days of the event also will be livestreamed on the Great Midwest Digital Network at the link above as well, if you can't make it to Canton to catch the action live.
