Trey Brock Named 2016 Charger Football MVP

Sophomore wide receiver Trey Brock got used to wearing out paths through opposing defenses in the 2016 season. Sunday afternoon, he wore out a path from his seat to the stage at Hillsdale College's Searle Center.

Brock received frequent recognition at the Charger football team's postseason banquet, the highlight coming with him being named the winner of the Roy Beck Most Valuable Player Award. He is the second consecutive underclassman to be named the team's MVP, following the honor earned by then-freshman Joe Reverman last year.

Brock was also recognized for leading the GLIAC in receiving yards during the season and setting a school record for most receiving yards per game in a season (132.2). His 77 receptions also led the conference, and his 1,322 yards were second-most in a season in school history.

But Brock wasn't alone in winning multiple awards. Junior offensive lineman Jake Bull was a recipient of the Captains Award in addition to the prestigious Leonard Urbanik Award for Scholarship, Leadership and Ability. Fellow O-lineman Drummond, also a captain, was named the team's most outstanding offensive lineman for the second year in a row. Sophomore defensive back Wyatt Batdorff, one of the breakthrough players of the season, was winner of the One Play Warrior Award and was named the outstanding defensive back on the team.
