Box score

The Walsh University men's basketball team put on an extraordinary shooting performance in bringing Hillsdale College's season to an end Saturday night.

The Cavaliers shot 63 percent from the floor and 59 percent from 3-point land in a 98-69 win over the Chargers in the GLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament semifinal at the Kates Gymnasium on the campus of Ashland University.

Hillsdale's season comes to an end with an 18-10 overall record. The Cavs will face Ferris State Sunday afternoon for the conference tournament title.

Walsh fat-out shot the ball at an amazing level throughout. Whether it was floaters in the lane, or 3-pointers with or without a defender right there, the Cavs seemingly could not miss from anywhere on the floor. In the first half, Walsh shot 10-for-14 on 2-point shots and made eight 3-point baskets.

Amazingly, the Cavs shot it even better in the second half. Led by high-scoring guard Jesse Hardin Jr., Walsh was 17-for-25 shooting in the second half, running away with the game. It was the most points allowed in a game by the Chargers this season.

Walsh also controlled the boards, enjoying a 38-29 edge over the Chargers in team rebounds.

Three Walsh players each scored more than 24 points in the game, led by Zac Carter's 28. Trey Fletcher had 25 and Hardin 24.

Senior forward Kyle Cooper concluded one of the great careers in program history, finishing with 21 points and 6 rebounds. In his career, Cooper finished 11th on Hillsdale's all-time scoring list with 1,520 career points.

Senior guard Zach Miller, also one of the finest to ever play his position for the blue and white, had 11 points and 4 assists.
