He'll Take the 5th

The regular season home career of Charger senior Kyle Cooper ended with a dramatic flourish. Monday morning, he was thusly rewarded.

For an unprecedented fifth time in one season, Cooper was named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

No player in Hillsdale College men's basketball history has ever won the GLIAC's weekly award so often in the same season as Cooper. Only former All-American women's players Katie Cezat and Megan Fogt have matched Cooper's number of player of the week honors in a season in overall school basketball history.

Cooper put a fitting cap on his brilliant home career in Saturday's win over Grand Valley State, scoring 26 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. His last two shots taken at home were both made 3-point shots, which kicked off a 17-0 run that turned the game in the Chargers' favor, adn eventually, clinched a GLIAC Tournament berth for the team.

In Thursday's road win against Ferris State, Cooper put together a terrific stat line of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in Hillsdale's 88-70 win.

Cooper hails from Northville, Michigan and attended Detroit Catholic Central High School.
