Chargers sweep past Ursuline to set up first-place showdown with Walsh on Sunday

There's no more looking ahead for the Hillsdale College volleyball team.

Showdown day is here now for Hillsdale, as the Chargers swept past host Ursuline on Saturday for their 12th straight victory, setting up a Sunday contest at unbeaten Walsh with first place in the G-MAC on the line tomorrow.

The Chargers made quick work of the Arrows in a 25-12, 25-14, 25-21 victory, finishing with 39 kills to Ursuline's 26 and hitting .315 to the Arrows' .065 to leave no doubts about the outcome of the match.

Junior Lauren Passaglia was all over the court for the Chargers, providing 23 assists from her usual setter position, while also flexing to outside hitter and hitting .692 with a team-high nine kills and contributing seven digs for Hillsdale.

Emory Braswell hit .500 with seven kills as well for Hillsdale, Megan Kolp hit .385 with six kills and Greta Wise chipped in five kills. Defensively, Alli Wiese led the Chargers with 12 digs and two service aces, Audrey Riley chipped in six digs, and Amanda Hilliker added five digs and three aces as well.

Adi Sysum finished with three total blocks for the Chargers, and Maizie Brown and Molly Kennedy each chipped in two for Hillsdale.

The Chargers (13-2, 7-0 G-MAC) next face the Cavaliers (12-0, 4-0 G-MAC) in North Canton on Sunday at 1 p.m. The two North Division squads are the only two undefeated teams remaining in the G-MAC, and the victor on Sunday will have the inside track for both the North Division title and the top overall seed in the season-ending G-MAC Tournament as the conference schedule nears its halfway point.
