Chargers fall to Northwood in showdown of G-MAC unbeatens, 6-1

The Hillsdale College women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak snapped at the hands of a strong Northwood team in a showdown of G-MAC unbeatens on the road on Saturday.

Northwood took the match 6-1 over the Chargers despite a strong showing by Hillsdale in doubles. The Chargers captured the doubles point with impressive victories by senior Melanie Zampardo and sophomore Megan Hackman at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, and by junior Courtney Rittel and freshman Ane Dannhauser at No. 2 doubles, 6-4.

Despite the victories, Hillsdale couldn't carry the momentum over to singles play, as Northwood captured all six singles matches in straight sets to claim victory. Dannhauser put up the toughest fight for the Chargers at No. 1 singles, falling in a tight 7-5, 6-3 match against Northwood's Rafaela Platsiota.

Hillsdale is now 7-10 overall, 4-1 in the G-MAC and faces two critical home matches next weekend against the other two remaining G-MAC unbeatens, defending G-MAC Champion Findlay on Friday and 15-0 Tiffin on Saturday. Upsets would keep the Chargers in contention for the G-MAC title and a first round bye in the upcoming G-MAC Tourney.
