Chargers win fourth straight with 4-1 road victory over Ashland

The Hillsdale College women's tennis team picked up another important G-MAC victory on the road on Saturday, downing host Ashland 4-1 for their fourth consecutive conference win.

The Chargers started strong by taking the doubles point. Hillsdale's top doubles team of senior Melanie Zampardo and sophomore Isabella Spinazze won 6-4 over their Ashland opponents, and Hillsdale's No. 2 doubles team of Courtney Rittel and Ane Dannhauser clinched the point with a 6-1 victory as well.

In singles play, Hillsdale outlasted a tough challenge from Ashland to come away with the victory. Zampardo picked up a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Ashland's Ana Penteado at No. 2 singles, showing a clutch performance in the third set. At No. 3 singles, junior Libby McGivern took a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Ashland's Kortney Reed, and senior Helana Formentin clinched the match for the Chargers with a solid 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles over the Eagles' Constanza Arancibia.

Hillsdale is now 7-9 overall, 4-0 in conference play and will get a critical test next Saturday on the road against G-MAC title contender Northwood for its next match.
