Chargers top rival Findlay and Lewis in double-dual to remain unbeaten

Another double victory for the Hillsdale College women's swimming and diving team at home on Saturday afternoon in a double dual against University of Findlay (141 – 77) and Lewis University (159 – 46). The Chargers won all but two events.

Junior sprint freestyler, Marie Taylor, had a big lead in the 100 freestyle, winning by over a second and a half (52.97). Taylor also led the way in the 50 freestyle (24.35), out touching Findlay by almost half a second.

The top three 200 freestyle finishes were within .22 seconds of each other. Junior Leah Tunney out touched second place Findlay by .05 seconds (1:57.03), and sophomore Caroline Holmes was .13 seconds behind for third (1:57.21). Sophomore Sarah Pataniczek added to the chargers depth with a fourth place finish (2:02.73).

Charger distance swept the 1000 and 500 finishing 1-2. Freshman Elise Mason won by 13 seconds in the 1000 (10:51.69), and junior Sarah Clark finished second (11:04.47), eight seconds ahead of third place, Findlay. Junior Leah Tunney won her second event of the day in the 500 by almost four seconds (5:14.54), and Mason had a strong second place (5:18.09), eight seconds ahead of third place. Junior Sarah Clark had a close fourth place, just .8 behind third (5:26.99).

Freshman Joanna Burnham had a strong finish in the 200 IM, out touching Findlay for first place by less than a second (2:12.08). Sophomore Cecilia Guadalupi was not far behind for a third place finish (2:13.64), and freshman Megan Clifford had a strong fourth place finish (2:15.68).

Freshman Megan Clifford had a strong back half in the 100 butterfly, making her out touch Findlay by .18 for first place (59.67), and senior Anna Clark had a close third place finish (1:00.44).

Freshman Emmalyse Dickhudt led the way in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.89), and freshman Joanna Burnham had a close fourth place finish (1:09.67).

The 200 freestyle A-relay of Taylor, Tunney, Golladay, and Guadalupi took first by 5 seconds ahead of Lewis (1:39.34). 

Sophomore Caroline Holmes had a close race in the 100 backstroke, taking third place, just .03 behind second place Findlay (1:00.04). Junior Sydney Slepian added to the Chargers depth for fourth place (1:02.58).

200 medley A-relay of Holmes, Burnham, Clifford, and Golladay finished less than a second behind the Oilers (1:51.20).

The Chargers close out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule next weekend, traveling to Grand Rapids to swim in the three-day Davenport Invitational, beginning on Nov. 19.
