Chargers dominate G-MAC/MEC Relay Meet

Saturday afternoon, the Hillsdale swim team won every relay at the G- MAC/MEC Relay meet hosted by Malone University. Hillsdale won the meet against seven other teams with 140 points, 50 points ahead of second place Ashland University. The meet consisted of 10 different mix relays.

The Chargers took first, second, and third in the 400 freestyle relay. The relay of all juniors, Sarah Clark, Leah Tunney, Marie Taylor, and Sydney Slepian won by .3 (3:45.81), and the freshmen, Emma Dickhudt, Lily Golladay, Elise Mason, and Megan Clifford had a very close second place (3:46.11) just out touching the the sophomores, Cecilia Guadalupi, Caroline Holmes, Phoebe Johnston, and Amy Mills (3:47.07).

The 3x500 relay of S. Clark, Mason, and Tunney won by 18 seconds (16:34.79) ahead of second place Fairmont State University.

The 400 medley relay of Holmes, Joanna Burnham, A. Clark, and Guadalupi won by 14 seconds (4:08.97), 13 seconds ahead of second place Ashland University.

The 500 freestyle relay (50, 100, 150, 200), of Golladay, Taylor, Clifford, and Tunney won by 13 seconds (4:52.67), ahead of second place Frostburg State University.

The 3x100 backstroke relay of Tunney, Holmes, and Slepian won by 11 seconds (3:01.55), ahead of second place West Virginia Wesleyan.

The 800 freestyle relay of S. Clark, A. Clark, Mason, and Mills won by 10 seconds (8:16.98) ahead of second place Ashland University.

The 3x100 breaststroke relay of Dickhudt, Burnham, and Taylor Boyle took first (3:34.03), just ahead of the B relay, Guadalupi, Hannah Douthitt, and Maddie Breay (3:39.00).

Other winning relays included the 3x100 butterfly relay of Clifford, A. Clark, and Johnston (3:05.32). The 400 medley IM relay of Guadalupi, Mills, Douthitt, and Burnham (4:19.32). The 200 freestyle relay of Golladay, Dickhudt, Briskey, and Taylor (1:43.58).

The Charger women's swim team next hosts its first home meet of the season on Oct. 23, against Ohio Northern and Hope College at 2 p.m.
