Chargers' Sydney Mills earns second G-MAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award (Feb. 25 - March 1)

Hillsdale College women's basketball senior Sydney Mills made the final weekend of games at home in her career one to remember.

For her play, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference has recognized her once again as the conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week. It's Mills' second weekly conference honor this season, and the fifth of her career at Hillsdale.

The fifth-year senior was stellar in two must-have games for the Chargers at home, leading Hillsdale with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks in Hillsdale's 73-61 win over Findlay on Thursday that clinched the Chargers' place in the G-MAC Tournament, and following that up with an 18 point, nine rebound effort in a 85-56 win over Ursuline on Saturday that secured Hillsdale's best finish in the conference standings since 2008-09.

Mills has been a stalwart for Hillsdale throughout a decorated career, leading an improvement in winning percentage for the Chargers in each of her last four seasons. She ranks in the top 10 all-time in Hillsdale history in five categories, and became Hillsdale's all-time leading rebounder on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Findlay, surpassing Sanady Skaisgir's total of 1,146 set from 1986-91. She's one of only three players in Chargers history along with Skaisgir and Megan Fogt to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds in her career, and she currently ranks eighth in total points with 1,433, sixth in blocked shots with 83, 10th in field goals made with 498, and seventh in 3-pointers made with 181.

Mills and the Chargers will look to pick up their 18th win for the first time in a season since 2017-18 and keep the run going tomorrow, as fifth-seeded Hillsdale travels to fourth-seeded Thomas More for a G-MAC Quarterfinal contest at 5:30 p.m.
