Chargers' Sydney Mills named G-MAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week (Nov. 13-20)

A record-setting weekend has caught the notice of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, as Hillsdale College women's basketball forward Sydney Mills was named the G-MAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week this past Monday.

It's Mills' first weekly conference honor of the season, and the fourth of her career at Hillsdale.

The senior had two double-doubles for the Chargers in a 76-63 win over Quincy on Friday, Hillsdale's first win of the season, and a 75-66 loss to McKendree on Saturday. Mills had one of the best games of her career in the win over the Hawks, scoring 31 points on 10 of 14 shooting from the floor, and 5 for 5 from 3-point range, while also grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking two shots. During that epic performance, which was the highest point total and the second-most rebounds in a single game by a G-MAC player in the 2023-24 season to date, Mills also became just the third Hillsdale women's basketball player and second G-MAC women's basketball player to surpass 1,000 rebounds in her career.

Mills added another 13 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to the Bearcats, helping Hillsdale come back from a big deficit to challenge for the lead late.

At 1,020 rebounds for her career, Mills has moved into second place all-time at Hillsdale, surpassing All-American Megan Fogt, and is now just 126 rebounds behind Sandy Skaisgir for the program's all-time record. Her 1,208 points also rank 13th all-time in Hillsdale College history, her 158 made 3-pointers rank eighth all-time at Hillsdale, and her 68 blocked shots rank seventh among Chargers all-time. She should continue to move up all those lists as the year wears on and she continues to play at a high level.

A three-time All-G-MAC honoree, Mills looks to help lead Hillsdale to a successful 2023-24 campaign. She and the Chargers are back in action tonight as Hillsdale hosts Lake Superior State for a 5 p.m. contest.
