Chargers announce schedule for 2023-24 season; home opener scheduled for Nov. 21

2023-24 Hillsdale College Women's Basketball Schedule

The Hillsdale College women's basketball team will take the court again this winter with a new leader at the helm, but the same mission -- continue its rise up the G-MAC standings.

The Chargers, in their first season under new head coach Brianna Brennan, will take on a 29-game slate that includes 13 home contests and an exhibition game at NCAA Division I Toledo on Dec. 30 to finish off the 2023 calendar year.

Hillsdale will start the season with two in-region crossover events in back-to-back weekends, with games against GLIAC and GLVC foes. The Chargers travel to Hammond, Indiana on Nov. 10 and 11 to play host Purdue Northwest and Illinois-Springfield, then the following weekend Hillsdale heads for Quincy, Illinois for Nov. 17 and 18 contests against Quincy and McKendree.

The Chargers open their home slate on Tuesday, Nov. 21 with a home contest against Lake Superior State at 5 p.m., part of a home non-conference schedule that also includes GLIAC foes Saginaw Valley State (Nov. 28) and Davenport (Dec. 28).

Hillsdale opens G-MAC play at home on Dec. 2 against Ohio Dominican, one of 20 conference contests. The Chargers also host new G-MAC member Thomas More (KY) for the first time on Jan. 4, and have home contests against long-time rivals Northwood on Jan. 25 and Findlay on Feb. 29.

The Chargers will host their annual Senior Day and Alumni Day on Feb. 17 against defending NCAA DII national champion Ashland.

Hillsdale is coming off its best season in five years, finishing with a winning record and making the G-MAC Tournament for the first time in a half-decade in the 2022-23 campaign. The Chargers must replace one of the program's top all-time scoring guards in Grace Touchette and a strong defensive presence in Arianna Sysum, who both graduated this offseason, but return three starters, led by three-time All-G-MAC honoree and power forward Sydney Mills, and third-year starting point guard Peighton Nelson.

Sharpshooters Carly Callahan and Caitlin Splain also return for a third season, and the Chargers are hoping for big things from junior Lauren McDonald in her second season with the program after joining the team as a transfer from Air Force halfway through the 2022-23 campaign.

Tickets for the 2023-24 campaign will go on sale in late September.
