November trip to Alaska highlights 2021-22 Charger Women's Basketball Schedule

2021-22 Hillsdale College Women's Basketball Schedule

Last season, the Hillsdale College women's basketball team stuck to a conference-only schedule due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year, non-conference games return, and the Chargers will be celebrating with their longest road trip in a decade.

On the weekend before Thanksgiving, Hillsdale will be making the 3,762-mile trip to Anchorage, Alaska, playing the hometown Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Nov. 19 and the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks on Nov. 20.

Those contests won't be the first games outside of the lower 48 states in program history for the Charger women's basketball team – Hillsdale played games in Hawaii in 2011, the Bahamas in 2006 and Cancun, Mexico in 2000 – but it will be the team's first Alaska trip and the first time the Chargers have met either Anchorage or Fairbanks on the court.

While the Chargers are making one long trip, fans will still have plenty of chances to see the Chargers in action at home. Hillsdale kicks off the 2021-22 season with weekend contests at Saginaw Valley St. on Nov. 12, 2021 and at Northwood on Nov. 13, 2021, with both tipoffs at 5 p.m.

The Chargers' home opener is the Monday after Thanksgiving, when the Chargers host Lake Superior St. at 2 p.m., and Hillsdale wraps up its nonconference contests with a midweek game at home against Davenport at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15.

Conference play begins for the Chargers on Dec. 2 with a trip to Kentucky Wesleyan. Hillsdale has 11 home conference contests this season. Among the highlights are a matchup with familiar foe and new G-MAC member Ashland on Thursday, Jan. 13, the team's annual Report Card Day on Saturday, Jan. 22 against Kentucky Wesleyan, and Senior Day festivities on Saturday, Feb. 19 against Lake Erie.

Tickets for Hillsdale College women's basketball home games will go on sale on Oct. 19 at https://hillsdale.universitytickets.com/.

The Chargers struggled with youth and injuries in 2020-21 but are building towards major improvement this season, with several key players returning, including three-year starting guard Grace Touchette and 2020-21 breakout star Sydney Mills.

A large and talented freshman class will bring much-needed depth and could be the missing piece that helps the Chargers make a big move up the G-MAC standings in 2021-22.
