Ten Chargers earn Indoor Track and Field All-Region honors from the USTFCCCA

Last weekend the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field season wrapped up with the Championships hosted by Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.

In conjunction with those championships, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its list of All-Region honorees for the 2021-22 season, with 10 Chargers making the cut.

Nine Hillsdale women's track athletes earned a spot on the All-Region team, which honors the holders of the top five marks in every event in the Midwest Region, led by Hillsdale's excellent throws team.

Junior Nikita Maines, who finished 10th in the nation in both the shot put and weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships, was recognized in both events, while 2022 Indoor All-American and freshman Averi Parker was recognized in the shot put, where she finished eighth in the nation at this past weekend's event. Fellow freshman Katie Sayles, the 13th place finisher in the weight throw at the Indoor Championships, also received recognition in her signature event.

The four members of Hillsdale's 4x400m relay -- freshmen Josee Behling and Shura Ermakov, junior Zalonya Eby and sophomore Dakota Stamm -- also received All-Region recognition after posting one of the top three marks in the Midwest region during the season, and Stamm was also recognized individually with All-Region honors for her excellent time in the 400 meter dash.

On the men's side, junior pole vaulter Ben Raffin received All-Region recognition for his mark in his signature event. Raffin has excelled throughout his career at Hillsdale, and earned his third All-American honor in the pole vault with an eighth place finish in the NCAA Indoor Championships this past weekend.

All 10 athletes will compete for the Chargers in the spring during the outdoor track and field season, and will look to add to their list of accomplishments with more strong performances.
