Eby, Towne Earn All-Great Midwest Track Recognition

Eby, Towne Earn All-Great Midwest Track Recognition

2018 Great Midwest All-Conference Outdoor Track Release

Another championship performance by the Hillsdale College women's outdoor track team resulted in some well-deserved recognition for one of its top athletes and its head coach.

Andrew Towne was named the 2018 G-MAC Women's Outdoor Track Coach of the Year and Zalonya Eby was named the 2018 G-MAC Women's Outdoor Track Freshman of the Year. The awards were announced as part of the conference's All-G-MAC awards release, which can be viewed in the link at the top of this release.

Both Towne and Eby repeated as individual award winners from the indoor season.

Towne has now won three conference coach of the year honors since 2015, and this is his second of 2017-18. He led the Charger women to a G-MAC outdoor championship, scoring 216.5 points while producing six individual champions. He'll lead a contingent of six athletes - four female, two male - to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 24-26.

Eby was once again a high-point scorer at the conference meet, as she finished third in the 100, first in the 200 and ran the lead leg in the second-place 4x400 meter relay team. Her strength and versatility translated into key points for Hillsdale as it leapfrogged Walsh on the last day of competition at the G-MAC outdoor championships.

In addition to the individual awards, a number of Chargers earned all-conference recognition. That list appears below.
