Chargers' Sean Barstow named G-MAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week (Feb. 19-26)

A milestone accomplishment this weekend was just the start for senior Sean Barstow of the Hillsdale College men's tennis team, as Barstow added G-MAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon, the conference office announced.

The weekly conference honor is Barstow's first this season and the third of his career from the G-MAC.

Barstow went 3-1 in singles and doubles across two matches this weekend, including sweeping both singles and doubles matches at home against Lake Superior State on Saturday. In winning a 6-4 match at No. 1 doubles with partner Aidan Pack against LSSU, Barstow became just the sixth men's tennis players since Hillsdale College reinstated the program in 2015 to reach 100 match wins for his career. Barstow also clinched a 4-2 victory over LSSU with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Lezan Koyuncu at No. 5 singles, and was Hillsdale's only player to win a singles match in a 6-1 loss to Ferris State on Sunday, rallying from a 6-0 loss in the first set to beat the Bulldogs' Kevin Kovacs 6-3, 10-7 and take the match at No. 5 singles.

For his career, Barstow is now tied for fourth all-time in wins at Hillsdale College with 102. He is a three-time All-G-MAC honoree, has played in two ITA Cups and was a key part of Hillsdale 2020-21 G-MAC Championship team as a freshman.

Barstow and the Chargers next travel to Detroit on Friday to take on nationally-ranked Wayne State in a match at 6 p.m.
