Chargers men's tennis team picked to finish third in 2024 G-MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Chargers men's tennis team picked to finish third in 2024 G-MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

With the season already underway, the Hillsdale College men's tennis team looks to build upon a long history of G-MAC success in 2024.

Fellow coaches in the conference think it's very possible the Chargers will do just that this season, as Hillsdale was picked to finish third in the G-MAC Preseason Coaches Poll released on Thursday afternoon. Defending champion Tiffin was tabbed as the favorite to repeat, and Findlay also received a first-place vote. You can find the full poll below.

Hillsdale took second in the G-MAC regular season last year and reached the semifinal round of the 2023 G-MAC Tournament, the fifth straight season the Chargers had made at least the semifinal round of the G-MAC Tournament. During that span, Hillsdale has won two G-MAC titles, in 2018 and 2021.

The Chargers graduated two key members of the lineup from last year's squad in Brennan Cimpeanu and Brian Hackman but return three veteran seniors who have been a part of the Hillsdale lineup for four or more seasons in Tyler Conrad, Sean Barstow and Daniel Gilbert, as well as promising sophomore Aidan Pack who played an important role on the Chargers' 2022-23 squad.

To supplement Hillsdale's experienced returners, the Chargers are looking for help from a promising four-player freshman class. Ellis Klanduch and Henry Hammondalready broken into the lineup for the Chargers, while twins Pali and Kenko Vician-Flechler add critical depth to Hillsdale's roster and can contribute as well.

The Chargers host Michigan Tech tomorrow for their next match, and will open conference play in March, taking on Kentucky Wesleyan on the 23rd at 11 a.m. for their first G-MAC match of the season. You can find the full schedule here.
