Chargers' Jacob Meyer wins 2023-24 G-MAC Elite 26 Award for Men's Basketball

A Hillsdale College men's basketball player's outstanding achievements in the classroom earned him a major award from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Thursday afternoon.

As part of the G-MAC's release of end-of-season awards for men's basketball, Chargers sophomore Jacob Meyer was recognized as the recipient of the G-MAC's Elite 26 Award. One of four major honors handed out every season by the conference in men's basketball and modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, the Elite 26 award goes to the athlete participating in a G-MAC Championship with the highest cumulative GPA among all players involved in the championship.

A sophomore at Hillsdale College, Meyer boasts an impressive 3.97 cumulative GPA made even more outstanding by the academic rigor of the institution and the rarity of a 3.9 or above GPA for all Hillsdale College students, athletes and non-athletes alike. The sophomore guard is currently undeclared for his major and will be making that determination in advance of the start of his junior year next fall.

Meyer is one of just two Hillsdale College athletes across all Chargers athletics programs to win the Elite 26 award for their sport, joining Cecilia Guadalupi, who earned the honor for the Hillsdale College women's swimming and diving team in 2021-22.
