Chargers' Joe Reuter earns first-team All-G-MAC honors

2023-24 G-MAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams

For the second-straight season, Hillsdale College junior Joe Reuter is bringing home all-conference honors from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after a stellar all-around season in 2023-24.

Reuter was one of 10 players named to the All-G-MAC first team on Thursday afternoon after leading Hillsdale to an 18-10 record, 13-7 in G-MAC play, and a tie for third place in the final conference standings. The honor builds upon the second-team recognition he received as a sophomore in 2022-23, and the G-MAC Freshman of the Year honors he received in 2021-22.

The junior from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin did everything for the Chargers in 2023-24, starting every game for the Chargers and leading Hillsdale in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks while scoring in double digits in 23 of the 28 games he appeared in. Reuter also set a new career-high in points with 30 in an 89-71 win at Lake Erie on Feb. 10, and finished in the top 10 in G-MAC play in rebounds per game, free throw percentage, field goal percentage, blocks and steals.

A two-year starter and major three-year contributor for the Chargers, Reuter also reached an important career milestone relatively early in his time at Hillsdale, surpassing 1,000 career points in a road contest at Findlay on Feb. 24 to become just the 41st player in Hillsdale College men's basketball history to reach the mark. He enters his senior year at Hillsdale in 2024-25 with 1,018 points and the chance to finish very high up the list of all-time scorers in Chargers history with a strong final campaign.

The Chargers will return all but one player, including Reuter, for the 2024-25 campaign next season, looking to build off another strong conference showing and return to G-MAC title contention with growth and major improvement on the court from its returning players who now have even more experience.
