    Assistant Volleyball Coach

Bio

Rick Langston first began working with the Hillsdale College volleyball program in 1999, and was added to the staff officially as an assistant coach under Chris Gravel for the 2001 season. In the 23 years since then, he's helped the Chargers ascend to new and unheard-of heights in the history of the program.

During his time with the program, Hillsdale has won all 10 of its regular season conference championships and all 10 of its conference tournament championships in program history, made the NCAA tournament 16 times, made four NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, won the 2011 and 2021 Midwest Regional titles to reach the Elite Eight, and made the 2011 NCAA Division II Final Four. Individually, 15 players during his tenure have earned 24 All-American honors, including seven conference players of the year and four Midwest Regional players of the year.

As an assistant coach, Langston plays a key role in keeping practices productive and moving, and provides valuable insight to head coach Chris Gravel during both practices and competitions.

Langston graduated from Olivet College in the mid-90s, where he played men's golf, earning All-American honors for the Comets during his time there. He got into volleyball at the high school level, coaching at nearby Camden-Frontier High School and Hudson High School, before joining the Hillsdale College staff in 1999. He's also been active as a coach at the club level, coaching Charged Up volleyball for six years.
