#17 Chargers roll past Lake Erie, 3-0, improve to 6-0 in G-MAC play

Coming off an impressive win on Tuesday over G-MAC title contender Findlay on the road, the #17 Hillsdale College volleyball team kept rolling on Friday night.

The Chargers made quick work of host Lake Erie in a 25-12, 25-16, 25-19 win on the road to improve to 6-0 in G-MAC play, and win their 61st straight regular season conference match.

Hillsdale rolled through sets 1 and 2, overcoming small early deficits in both sets to seize control with efficient hitting (.364 and .424 hitting percentages in the two sets) and disruptive defense (holding the Storm to -.032 hitting percentage and nine errors in the first set).

The Chargers were able to get their entire lineup involved, with 14 different Hillsdale players recording at least one kill in the match.

Leading the way for the Chargers was freshman Amy Buffini, who had the best offensive match of her Hillsdale career in the victory. Buffini posted a team-high 10 kills on a .409 hitting percentage, and added in a service ace and eight digs as well.

Sophomore Emily Susitko and senior Allyssa Van Wienen each added three kills and two blocks as well. Three different setters played for the Chargers, as senior Lindsey Mertz, sophomore Madeline Zenas and freshman Lauren Passaglia combined for 33 assists to keep Hillsdale's offense humming.

Alli Wiese chipped in eight digs to lead the Hillsdale defense, Audrey Riley added six digs and Madie Schider chipped in five.

Now 12-2 overall and 6-0 in league play, Hillsdale wraps up its first run through G-MAC North Division opponents on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it visits Ursuline.
