Taylor Wiese Earns 4th Defensive Player of the Week Award

It was a week of records and milestones for Charger senior libero Taylor Wiese.

Hillsdale's career leader in digs won her third conference tournament championship on Saturday, and Monday, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for a fourth time this season. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

Wiese was brilliant once again during Hillsdale's tournament run last week, hitting the 30-dig barrier twice in three matches, capped by a career-high 34 digs in Saturday's title-clinching win over Tiffin. Those 34 digs also broke the Chargers' postseason school record of 31 digs in a match, set by All-American Melissa Bartlett during the 2007 GLIAC Tournament.

For the week, Wiese averaged 7.5 digs per set, easily besting her conference-leading average of 6.09 digs per set for the season.

In Friday's semifinal win over Kentucky Wesleyan, Wiese recorded her 2,135th dig of her career, to break Megan Howard's 12-year-old school record.

Wiese, who has been named First-Team All-Conference three years in a row, will lead her Hillsdale squad into its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament the week after Thanksgiving.
