G-MAC Volleyball Statistics

OVERVIEW

  • It's an unusual scheduling week for the Chargers, who play at Cedarville Friday night then take on Tiffin at home Saturday afternoon...Tiffin plays at Findlay Friday night, which means the Dragons have two fewer hours to travel for Saturday's match at Hillsdale than Hillsdale does from their respective Friday night match locations
  • The Chargers and Dragons are the last unbeaten teams in G-MAC play and are tied for first place in the West Division
  • All three G-MAC meetings between Hillsdale and Cedarville have gone four sets, with the Yellow Jackets winning the first, and the Chargers the last two
  • Tiffin snapped a 16-match losing streak to Hillsdale with a 3-1 win over the Chargers in Ohio in October 2016...The Chargers topped the Dragons at the Midwest Region Crossover last year
  • 2018 is Tiffin's first season in the G-MAC...The Dragons were members of the GLIAC from 2008-17
  • The Chargers are No. 2 in the G-MAC with a .261 team hitting percentage, while Tiffin ranks 2nd in opponents' hitting percentage (.151) for the season
  • Hillsdale has the deadliest 1-2 hitting combo in the conference with Paige VanderWall (1st) and Kara Vyletel (5th) combining to average 7.29 kills per set...Both of them rank in the top 10 in total points scored as well
  • Sophomore Lindsey Mertz has a substantial lead in the G-MAC assists department, averaging 11.41 per set
  • Another player who has stepped up her game this year is junior middle hitter Hannah Gates...She had one double-digit kill match in her career before Sept. 11, and since then, has two, including a 12-kill match against Cedarville in the first meeting of the season between the teams...Gates ranks second in the conference with a .363 hitting percentage
  • Freshman Karoline Shelton is another emerging player on the team...In two wins last week she averaged 3 kills per set (18 total) and had a .548 hitting percentage
  • Another freshman, Maggie DePorre, has made an impact recently, averaging 2.4 kills per set since working her way into the rotation Sept. 11
  • Hillsdale has won a conference-record 22 straight G-MAC matches dating back to Sept. 16, 2017
