A difficult trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula concluded Saturday for the Hillsdale College volleyball team in a 3-1 loss to host Michigan Tech University.

The Chargers fell to 7-8 in the GLIAC and 15-11 overall with the four-set loss.

The Huskies dominated the first two sets, winning by scores of 25-13 and 25-16. Hillsdale rallied impressively in set 3, led by the hitting of senior Erin Holsinger, to win 25-22. Set 4 saw Hillsdale trail 21-20, only to see Michigan Tech score four of the match's final five points to clinch the victory.

Hillsdale was unable to hit better than .200 as a team for the second consecutive match (.177), while allowing MTU a team hitting percentage of .277. The Huskies helped themselves with 13 service errors in the match as well.

Holsinger was a bright spot offensively with 11 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. She also had 3 solo blocks and 4 block assists. Sophomore Kara Vyletel added 11 kills, and junior outside hitter Jackie Langer had 7 kills and 12 digs.

Sophomore setter Taylor Bennett had 29 assists, while freshman Taylor Wiese led the defense with 15 digs.

UP NEXT: Hillsdale wraps up the regular season in west Michigan next weekend, taking on Ferris State Friday night in Big Rapids, followed by a match with Grand Valley State Saturday.
