Box Score

The Charger volleyball team left the state of Ohio winless on the weekend after a 3-1 loss to Ashland University Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the Chargers to 13-8 overall and 5-5 in the GLIAC.

This loss was particularly frustrating for the Chargers, as all four sets were decided by the minimum two points. Hillsdale took the first set 26-24, but lost the final three by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 29-27.

Ashland was the more efficient offensive team, with a .250 hitting percentage compared to .176 for the Chargers. The Eagles also had 14 more kills. Hillsdale was the beneficiary of eight Ashland service errors and had five aces of its own, but it wouldn't be enough.

Sophomore Paige VanderWall had another dominant match from her right-side position, generating 15 kills for the second consecutive match. She hit .270 and set a new career-high with 11 digs. Sophomore Kara Vyletel had another double-double, picking up 13 kills with 15 digs.

Sophomore Taylor Bennett had 4 kills, 11 digs and 43 assists in the match. Erin Holsinger and Jackie Langer each had 4 block assists, with Holsinger tacking on 2 solo blocks. Langer added 12 digs to the Chargers' defensive effort.
