The Hillsdale College volleyball team's run in the GLIAC Tournament is over, but it's likely the season is not.
The Chargers lost a 3-0 decision to Findlay Saturday afternoon in the conference tournament semifinal, held at Ferris State. Hillsdale is now 23-7 on the season.
The NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament selection show is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday. Hillsdale, currently the 5 seed in the region, is unlikely to fall out of the top eight, who all qualify for the postseason.
The Chargers ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Oilers, who played with a high level of execution and aggression in every phase of the game. Findlay hit .339 as a team in the match compared to .077 for Hillsdale. The Oilers won the sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-16.
Junior Kyra Rodi played well offensively for the Chargers with a team-high 7 kills, Senior Haylee Booms had 5 kills against just 1 error. Marissa Owen, an honorable mention All-GLIAC selection, had 14 assists while freshman Taylor Bennett had 10.
Defensively, Brittany Jandasek had 10 digs while Owen and Jenalle Beaman had 7 apiece.
