Chargers Stay Hot in Sweep of Storm

Playing nearly the entire roster, the Hillsdale College volleyball team improved to 7-3 in the GLIAC with a 3-0 sweep of Lake Erie College before a packed house of more than 400 fans Friday night at Jesse Philips Arena. 

The Chargers, winners of five straight, are now 10-8 overall and will host Ashland University at noon Saturday. Hillsdale won Friday's sets by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-17.

Ten different players registered kills for Hillsdale, led by the reigning North Division Player of the Week.

Sophomore Jenalle Beaman looked impressive once again, delivering 11 kills with a .562 hitting percentage to lead the offense. Beaman had great approaches to her sets and found open court on the Storm side often throughout her three sets played in the match. Beaman also had three block assists during her time in the front row.

Sophomore setter Marissa Owen expertly set the table for the Chargers with 21 assists, while junior Alexis Waugh contributed 13 to go along with two service aces.

Four of Emily Wolfert's five kills came in the first set, and sophomore Haylee Booms was dominant at the net with eight kills, two solo blocks and three block assists.

Defensively, senior Sydney Lenhart's 11 digs led the Chargers.
