NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships Homepage
Four women and one man will represent the Hillsdale College Track & Field program at this weekend's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The three-day event is being held in Kingsville, Texas beginning Thursday.
Kajsa Johansson, the 2019 G-MAC Track Athlete of the Year, qualified in both the 100 and 200 meter dash races. She enters NCAAs ranked eighth in the 200 and 14th in the 100.
Senior Allysen Eads graduated from Hillsdale College earlier this month, but she'll suit up for the Chargers one more time, at this year's NCAA championships. She is ranked sixth in the nation in the 3000 meter steeplechase and will attempt to become the third Hillsdale runner to achieve All-American status in that event the past four years, joining sisters Emily and Molly Oren.
Senior Dana Newell has made a remarkable comeback after battling injuries in the middle of her career. She qualified for the NCAA championships in 2015 and now, four years later, is back on Division II's biggest stage, qualifying 15th in the hammer throw.
Junior Abbie Porter will seek her first outdoor All-American honor, qualifying 14th in the 800 meter run. She has won two straight outdoor G-MAC championships in that event.
On the men's side, senior Jared Schipper auto-qualified in the pole vault last month and will hit the runway one final time for Hillsdale. Like Newell, he qualified for the NCAA championships as a freshman in 2015, dealt with a host of injuries, then rebounded to become one of the best in Division II.
Prelim events get underway Thursday, with championship races scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
