Chargers fall to Findlay on the road, 5-0, in first G-MAC match

The Hillsdale College women's tennis team took a tough loss to G-MAC rival Findlay on the road, 5-0, on Sunday in its first conference match of the 2022-23 campaign.

The Chargers did get a win in doubles, as Hillsdale No. 1 doubles team of Sarah Hackman and Melanie Zampardo rolled to a 6-1 victory over Zuzannah Krygier and Emily Hadler.

However, Findlay was able to take the other two doubles matches, 6-2 and 6-4, to secure the doubles point, and won all four singles matches that were finished in straight sets to clinch the match.

While Findlay kept Hillsdale from scoring a point, multiple singles matches were close. Junior Melanie Zampardo of Hillsdale pushed Annamarija Kovacevic of Findlay to a first set tiebreak before falling 7-6 (4), 6-4 in a tight match at No. 2 singles, and Chargers senior Canela Luna lost a competitive 7-5, 6-4 match to Findlay's Hadler at No. 3 singles.

Hillsdale falls to 3-7 on the year and 0-1 in the G-MAC with the loss. The Chargers next hit the road to Ursuline on Friday looking to bounce back and pick up their first G-MAC victory of the season.
