Nikki Walbright Repeats as G-MAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year!

2019 G-MAC Women's Tennis All-Conference Release

For the second consecutive season, and third time in her career, Hillsdale College's Nikki Walbright has been named the top coach in her conference.

Walbright was one of several members of the Charger women's tennis program recognized at the All-Conference banquet, held on the campus of Kentucky Wesleyan College on the eve of the conference postseason tournament, which begins Friday morning.

Walbright was named the 2019 G-MAC Coach of the Year, repeating her honor from 2018. She led the team to a second consecutive undefeated conference regular season and guided Hillsdale to a program-best 14-2 record during the regular season.

Three Chargers - senior Halle Hyman, sophomore Hannah Cimpeanu and freshman Sarah Hackman - were all named First-Team All-Conference.

Juniors Kamryn Matthews and Katie Bell were each named Second-Team All-Conference.

Hyman, one of the most decorated players in program history, went 9-1 in singles competition for the Chargers. With this honor, she pulled off a rare achievement, being named First-Team All-Conference in all four of her years with the program.

Cimpeanu took over as the team's No. 1 singles player and delivered a season worthy of this recognition and more. She went 10-3, won her last eight straight singles matches and was 20-6 overall entering the postseason.

Hackman was one of the top newcomers in the G-MAC and immediately moved into the top end of singles and doubles flights for the back-to-back regular season champs. She has a total overall record of 20-8 on the season entering the postseason.

Matthews was a two-time G-MAC Player of the Week and is 21-4 on the season. Bell was a steady presence on the court wherever she played, and was 7-1 in singles matches for the Chargers.
