Matthews Wins Second G-MAC Player of the Week Honor

Facing its most challenging week of the season, one of Hillsdale College's best stepped forward with some great performances.

Junior women's tennis player Kamryn Matthews was named G-MAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

The Chargers were severely tested in road matches at Findlay and Tiffin over the weekend, and Matthews did everything she could to ensure her team stayed unbeaten in conference play and in first place. She went 4-0 across both singles and doubles competition, with her win over the Dragins proving key in a 4-3 win.

After a record-setting 2018 season when she won 30 matches, Matthews isn't slowing down in 2019. Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Matthews has a 9-2 singles record and a 10-2 doubles record, giving her an overall mark of 19-4 on the season, a .826 winning percentage. Individually, she is unbeaten in the G-MAC.

Matthews hails from Midland, Michigan.
