The Hillsdale College women's tennis team came out on top with a huge victory on the road, beating Walsh Universaity 7-0 Saturday afternoon in North Canton, Ohio.

The win makes the Chargers 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

In tennis, playing on the road at an indoor club that is unfamiliar can be a very difficult task, but proved to be no issue for the Chargers today. The No. 3 doubles team of Madeline Bissett and Kamryn Matthews came out hot quickly win their match 6-4,. However, Walsh prevailed in the No. 1 doubles slot, meaning the doubles point came down to the No. 2 pairing of Sarah Hackman and Hannah Cimpeanu. They showed they were ready to step up and played a fantastic doubles match, coming out with a 7-5 win, giving Hillsdale a head start of 1-0 going into singles play.

Katie Bell at No. 4 singles won her match quickly with a score of 6-3, 6-0, as well as her was teammate and No. 2 singles player Sarah Hackman, with a score of 6-1, 6-1. New to the No. 3 singles position, Halle Hyman gave Hillsdale it's third point with a win over her opponent 6-3, 7-5, clinching the match for the Chargers.

Matthews executed her game plan regardless of her opponents unpredictable game style, to win 7-5, 6-3. Still on court was No. 1 singles player Cimpeanu struggled to find her rhythm in the first set, but quickly adjusted her mental game and topped her opponent in the second set with an easy 6-1, and pulled the final set out after a total grind to win the match 7-5. Wrapping up singles play was senior Corinne Prost, who dominated her opponent in flawless execution on court and at the net to win the final point for the Chargers 6-4, 6-0.

The Chargers will next take on Saginaw Valley at homne April 6.
