A day before its biggest match of the regular season, the Hillsdale College women's tennis team pitched an actual shutout Friday afternoon.
The Chargers improved to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference with a 7-0 win over Ursuline College in Ohio. That means Hillsdale will head into its key match with Walsh Saturday off back-to-back shutout victories.
All three doubles matches ended in 6-0 wins for Hillsdale, while all six singles matches went down as 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Chargers.
Julia Formentin and Sophia Spinazze teamed up for a win at No. 3 doubles, taking full advantage of their opportunity to pick up points for Hillsdale.
Katie Bell and Halle Hyman won at No. 1 doubles, and Hannah Cimpeanu and Sarah Hackman won at No. 2 doubles.
Singles winners were: Cimpeanu at No. 1, Hackman at No. 2, Hyman at No. 3, Kamryn Matthews at No. 4 and Corinne Prost at No. 5.
