Women's Tennis Runs Into Top Teams in Florida

Box Score: #2 Lynn 4, Hillsdale 0

While many Hillsdale College student are on spring break, the Charger women's tennis team is one of four teams staying busy with competition down south.

Monday afternoon, the Chargers met the No. 2-ranked team in Division II, Lynn University, and were dealt their first loss by a score of 4-0. The match ended once Lynn mathematically clinched the victory.

Kamryn Matthews played the closest set of the four completed matches, losing at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-3. Hillsdale lost its two completed doubles matches by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.

 

Box Score: Palm Beach Atlantic 4, Hillsdale 1

Wednesday afternoon the Charger women's tennis team wrapped up play in Florida with a 4-1 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic.

Hannah Cimpeanu recorded the team's only individual win, coming at No. 1 singles. She picked up a 7-5, 7-5 win, her closest straight-sets victory of the season.

Earlier in the day on Wednesday, Hillsdale played well in a 5-4 exhibition win over Broward College. 

Sarah Hackman (No. 1 singles) and Kamryn Matthews (No. 2 singles) played above their usual flights and emerged with wins. Matthews and Madeline Bissett were 6-1 winners at No. 2 doubles, and Julia Formentin and Sophia Spinazze won a 6-3 decision at No. 3 doubles. Bissett also won her match at No. 4 singles.
