The Hillsdale College women's tennis team took down Lewis University on the road with a victory of 4-3 in Romeoville, Illinois Saturday night.
Senior Madeline Bissett and junior Kamryn Matthews came away with the only doubles win at the No. 3 position winning 6-2. Going into the singles round being down 0-1 overall, the Chargers were determined to make up lost ground and proved to do just that as senior Katie Bell quickly took down her opponent at the No. 3 position 6-1, 6-3, and Bissett at No. 6 winning 6-0, 6,0, now putting Hillsdale ahead 2-1 overall.
Making her first dual match appearance was freshman Sophia Spinazze, who blew through her match to win 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 to have her first ever singles victory. Clenching the match and win for Hillsdale with the final singles victory was freshman Sarah Hackman, topping her opponent at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3. Hillsdale is now 3-0 for the spring season and will play again at home February 23 against Michigan Tech in another important regional matchup.
