The 2018 G-MAC Freshman of the Year is off to an excellent start in 2019.
Sophomore Hannah Cimpeanu was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Wednesday night.
Playing at the No. 1 singles flight, Cimpeanu is undefeated in the spring and cruised to a win in her match against Ferris State Sunday afternoon 6-2, 6-2. She was also victorious at the No. 2 doubles flight, teaming up with Sarah Hackman for a 6-1 win.
Cimpeanu is 4-0 overall during the spring season and Hillsdale is off to a 2-0 start as a team, winning two matches against GLIAC foes 7-0. Cimpeanu is the second member of this year's team and the 24th different Charger athlete, to win conference player of the week honors this year.
