Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at ITAs

The fall portion of the 2018-19 Hillsdale College women's tennis season opened up over the weekend all across the Grand Rapids area, and several Chargers competed at the ITA Regional event, hosted by Grand Valley State University.

One of the team's most experienced doubles combos, junior Katie Bell and senior Corinne Prost, won the A Doubles Consolation Draw, picking up victories by scores of 9-7 over Marysville, 9-7 over Lewis and 8-4 over Walsh. Those three wins came after a tight 8-6 loss to the University of Indianapolis in the opening round.

In singles competition, Bell went 2-2, picking up wins over Davenport (6-4, 6-0) and Missouri-St. Louis (6-1, 7-5) inbetween losses to Michigan Tech and Indianapolis. 

Prost won her first-round B singles match, 6-1, 6-0 over Missouri-St. Louis, while freshman Sarah Hackman also won in the A Singles Front Draw, 0-6, 6-1, 10-4, over Indianapolis. Sophomore Casey Kibler picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win over Lewis, and senior Julia Formentin was a 6-4, 6-1 winner in the B Singles Conjsolation round over Davis & Elkins.
