The Hillsdale College women's tennis team made its long-awaited regular season debut on its new Mary Jane Delp Courts Saturday afternoon at its home opener. Unfortunately, Grand Valley State was there to spoil the occasion.
The Lakers used some long comebacks in the doubles flights to pick up a 7-2 win over the Chargers, dropping Hillsdale to 3-2 overall and in the conference.
Sophomore Halle Hyman recorde an impressive victory at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9, winning a marathon third game. Sophomore Madeline Bissett also posted a big win at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (5).
Hillsdale is back in action at home Sunday against Ferris State starting at 1 p.m.
