Chargers’ Joanna Burnham named G-MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week (Jan. 9-16)

Another strong weekend for Joanna Burnham has the sophomore on the Hillsdale College women's swimming and diving team enjoying an impressive first-time accomplishment.

On Monday afternoon, Burnham was awarded G-MAC Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for the first time in her career after a stellar performance in the Chargers' double-dual against Ashland and Saginaw Valley State on Saturday.

Burnham is the third Chargers swimmer to win the weekly award this season, joining Megan Clifford and Marie Taylor.

The sophomore was a winner in multiple events for the Chargers, taking first in the 400 individual medley in 4:44.88), and also winning the 100 breaststroke (1:09.84) for Hillsdale.

Burnham has been a force in the 400 IM since joining the Chargers last season as a freshman, winning the G-MAC/MEC title last season in the event and posting the fastest time in the G-MAC so far this season to date.

She'll be a key part of the team as the Chargers look to win a fourth-straight G-MAC/MEC crown in February, but first the Chargers have one more tune-up meet at the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invite this upcoming weekend.
