Leah Tunney wins second G-MAC Women's Swimmer of the Week Award in a row (Feb. 8-14)

As the Hillsdale College women's swimming and diving team continues to excel, so too does sophomore swimmer Leah Tunney.

On Tuesday, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference office announced that Tunney has been named the G-MAC swimmer of the week for the second-straight week, and the fourth time in her career at Hillsdale.

Tunney once again shined for the Chargers in a big 163-117 win over G-MAC rival Findlay that helped Hillsdale remain undefeated in dual meets this season at 7-0 overall.

After winning three events to lead the Chargers to a dual meet victory over Ashland on Feb. 6, the Mequon, Wisconsin native again was a three-time winner for the Chargers against the Oilers, leading a 1-2-3 Hillsdale finish in the 1,000 meter freestyle with a time of 10:47.55, winning the 100 backstroke (1:00.46) and swimming a leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:40.87).

Tunney, the 2019-20 G-MAC Freshman of the Year, is ramping up as the G-MAC Championship meet approaches. The Hillsdale swim team next travels to Notre Dame College (OH) this Friday for a tri-meet with the host Falcons and Ursuline at 4 p.m.
