Charger women's swim stays unbeaten with 125-101 win over host Ashland

Saturday afternoon half of the Hillsdale women's swim and dive team traveled to Ashland University for a 13 event dual meet. The Chargers won 125 – 101 after spotting Ashland 26 points due to diving.

The Charger distance swimmers finished 1-2-3 in the 1650. Sophomore Madison Pyhel took first (18.15.20), sophomore Sarah Clark had a strong second place finish (18:19.80), and junior Anna Clark finished third (19:04.60).

Pyhel won her second event of the day in the 100 butterfly (1:00.80), and A. Clark had a strong second place finish (1:02.08).

Sophomore Leah Tunney finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:58.03), and freshman Sarah Pataniczek had a close third place finish (2:03.15).

Tunney also won the 100 backstroke (1:00.05), and freshman Caroline Holmes finished third (1:01.22).

Senior Katherine Heeres won the 100 freestyle (55.00), and sophomore Marie Taylor finished second (55.65).

In the 500 freestyle, S. Clark had a close race the entire event and touched first by .08 (5.22.33), and Pataniczek had a strong third place finish (5:27.77).

Junior Taylor Boyle was the only charger in the 100 breaststroke and she finished first with her best in-season time (1:09.79).

In the 50 freestyle, Taylor finished second by .01 (25.37), and senior Emma Rao finished third (26.12).

The 200 medley A-relay of Tunney, Boyle, Rao, and Heeres finished first (1:52.03). The B-relay was disqualified for a false start.

200 freestyle B-relay of Holmes, S. Clark, Fassett, A. Clark finished second (1:47.59). The A-relay was disqualified for a false start.

Hillsdale next travels to Canton, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 13 to take on host Malone and Notre Dame College (OH) in a tri-meet.
