Marie Taylor Wins First Career G-MAC Swimmer of the Week Award

Over the weekend, the Charger women's swimming team overcame a traditional bump in its road by notching wins over Lewis University and the University of Findlay. Wednesday afternoon, one of its many talented young athletes was recognized for her role in the wins.

Freshman Marie Taylor became the second athlete in her class to earn Great Midwest Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week honors. She joins Leah Tunney in earning that distinction this year. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office. Taylor is the 17th different Charger athlete to win G-MAC weekly honors this year.

Taylor was victorious in two individual events in the wins over the Flyers and Oilers - the 50 free with a time of 24.82, and the 100 free, with a time of 54.04. She also anchored the 200 free relay, which with its time of 1:39.22, broke the Lewis University pool record.

A sprinter for Hillsdale, Taylor hails from Austin, Texas.
