Hillsdale College swim team won against Indiana Wesleyan University 121-80 Friday evening at the McAvoy Natatorium. The Chargers took first place in every event except two.
Junior Grace Houghton won the 1650 by 27 seconds (18:46.66) and had an awesome finish the 100 butterfly for another first place (1:01.87).
Freshman Katherine Heeres, who was a GMAC swimmer of the week, took first place in the 100 backstroke (1:02.91) and the 200 IM (2:15.85) while Junior captain Anika Ellingson, also a GMAC swimmer of the week was a close second in the 200 IM (2:17.86).
Freshman Hannah Wilkens, who was a GMAC swimmer of the week, won the 500 freestyle by 16 seconds (5:28.25) and also won the 200 freestyle (2:02.17).
Sophomore Victoria Addis won the 100 breaststroke by 6 seconds (1:09.30) and had a life-time best in the 200 freestyle for third place (2:05.07).
Charger backstrokes had a 1-2-3-4 sweep in the 100 backstroke by Allie Matti (1:02.91), Bailey Bickerstaff (1:03.32), Mary Vita (1:04.16) and Tiffany Farris (1:04.60).
The 200 medley relay of Farris, Addis, Voisin, and Rao all had solid splits to get them first place (1:55.56).
Other notable swims include an extremely close 2-3 finish in the 50 freestyle by the freshmen sprinters of Emma Rao (26.14) and Mary Vita (26.15). Senior captain Peyton Bowen swam a solid 100 butterfly for third place (1:03.91).
